Looking at President Xi Jinping’s actions as a leader, and the ideas of governance on which these actions are based, we can build up a picture of his beliefs on the relationship between the Party and the people it represents. Central to this belief is increasing their interactivity, making use of the people’s wisdom and ideas, and leading from in front, behind and within. Crucial for doing so is building the moral integrity of the Party, not only to earn the people’s confidence, but also to increase the Party’s ability to lead by example.
